{Update} Classes, reviews & such

I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm kind of drowning in homework, which my son is taking personally. He would much rather mommy be discussing how awesome his choo-choos are than trying to read/critique a book on sociology, watch/read lectures on sociology, view films on sociology, answer discussion questions about sociology... have I mentioned my major is sociology? No? Well, now you know. All of my classes this semester are in the soc. department and it's already getting a little confusing *sigh*. I enjoy classes and have always been a good student, but this semester I suppose I'm just a little bitter that school is eating up so much of my reading time.

Because my reading time, and therefore my reviewing time, has been cut back so much, I'm probably only going to be able to write and post one book review a week. This makes me just a tad depressed, and I apologize in advance. Are any of you in school, too? If so, what's your major? And how's it looking on the homework front?

  1. It always seems like real life is always getting in the way of reading good books, but never fear. One book a week is still pretty good output, and your readers will stick around, I'm sure. You just worry about taking care of business.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement, Jonathan! And yes it does. Ah well, I'll just have to learn how to manage my time better. Ha. Ha. ;)

  3. I'm seriously impressed that you're doing even one review a week! That's pretty good on any front, let alone while you're in SCHOOL! I'm no longer in college (whew), but I remember well the days I was. My kids were tiny then, and they were great distractions!!! Good luck with your homework!!!

  4. My degree is in sociology as well. So interesting, I think. I've been hearing so much about Fight Club lately - any good?

  5. Oh gosh, I feel like my blog has been orphaned. I'm really struggling to keep up on homework, though, and unfortunately my blog is the first thing that has to be cut out of my schedule :(
    M. Christine, I think I spoke too soon. I haven't read anything for review in almost four weeks *gasp*. My poor blog has apparently been put on an unofficial and unexpected (& unappreciated) hiatus. Thanks for the encouragement!
Dana, sociology is really interesting! I'm enjoying it, just bitter about time constraints, ha! :) I love Fight Club (the book & the movie, though the book is my favorite between the two). I'm not sure why I love it so much honestly. I think it's partly the style and partly the raw nature of it. It's a very honest book and one that I would expect about anyone could relate to. I really need to reread it, though, so I have more valid reasons for loving it ;)

  8. Greetings!

Hi Ro! I greatly appreciate your tagging me, and I am so sorry I was unable to participate. I know homework sounds like a lame excuse, but it is the reason this is the first time I've been on bibliophyte since early February.

Brooks! *crawls out from under pile of homework* Barely! Can you believe I haven't read anything for fun since JANUARY?! This has been the most ridiculous semester for homework I've ever had. For just one of my classes I'm writing a 15-20 page paper every 10 days. Not kidding. I'm about to start on another one now. Each one is worth 10% of my final grade, too. My son is finally adjusting but it's been a challenge. Plus, two of my instructors didn't acknowledge spring break. Honestly, that didn't make me very happy, but ces la vie. I'll be back with a vengeance soon!!

Hello Book Slave and welcome! Thank you so much! I'm glad you were able to stop by bibliophyte and I'll be dropping by your site as well in just a moment.

I miss all of you and I can't wait to be back! Thanks so much for dropping me a line! :)
