Happy Birthday, Mr. Grahame! & A whimsical place to call home

Happy Wednesday, friends - the day we celebrate all things whimsical! First on the agenda is to wish author Kenneth Grahame a happy 152nd birthday! I know I'm technically a day late, but who cares about technicalities when it comes to celebrating the epitome of whimsicality in children's literature :) As you may know, Mr. Grahame is the man behind Mole, Ratty, Mr. Badger and Mr. Toad in the children's classic The Wind in the Willows.
I remember my mother reading this book out loud to my sister and I when we were little, and how it had my imagination running wild. I had great affection for Mole, liked Ratty's spunk, looked up to Mr. Badger, and tut-tutted Mr. Toad. The illustrations are gorgeous and spirit you away to a beautiful place where life is simpler and everyone lives happily ever after. If you are not familiar with The Wind in the Willows, quick! Run to the library and check it out or hop on over to Project Gutenberg where you can read it here for free on-line or by downloading it to an e-book reader. It is a book everyone should read at least once :)
Now on to Part II of this lovely Whimsical Wednesday! Homes and decorating have been on my mind lately, but have I been thinking about trips to Home Depot, paint, square feet and the like, aka the practical stuff? No. Being such a hopeless dreamer with my head firmly in the clouds, I've been trying to decide whether I'd rather have a romantic cottage deep in the woods, a fairy castle, or a little home made out of a mushroom. So please, indulge my daydreams and enjoy the following collection of whimsical places I'd love to call home :)

  2. It is hard to decide, but I think the place on the beach would do nicely, and perhaps I need a winter home too!
